Opera 8.65 on Windows Mobile 6 on Samsung i760

I just recently got my Samsung i760. This is my first smartphone and I am so happy to finally be a part of the convergence revolution. I have one device which allows me texting capabilities, instant messaging, web browsing, digital camera, games, and even music. Although it can be a little difficult to do everything you can do on a laptop, I am also able use remote desktop and logmein.com to control other computers and servers. This was part of my rationale for going with Samsung smartphone versus the Apple iPhone. Well, I guess I should also mention that I had a 100 credit to upgrade my phone from Verizon along with a 50 rebate and another 100 discount for signing up for the wireless broadband plan. In the end, it was a great deal that I could not pass up.

Well so I realized very quickly that windows mobile internet explorer has some severe limitations as far as what I am accustomed to on my desktop. Which I probably should not complain about since a few years ago it was a stretch to have internet browsing on your phone.

In any case, I did some research and found minimo (zilla) as an option for my phone with tabbed browsing and perhaps some other nice little features. Well it turns out Minimo didn't like my phone too much and the number of error reports generated was a bit disconcerting so I kept looking. I am sure that they will work them out, but I was looking for something more stable

SEO and getting Indexed

I guess my real question was whether a post to a usenet or google group will make a spider or bot follow a link to its destination and index the page.

From my experiment that I have conducted, it doesn't seem like it does...

From what I can tell, there are at least 6 pages of entries where I can find mention of fractallinks.blogspot.com - all stemming from the original post that I made , but no actual entry for the site. Which makes me believe that either google recognizes that the links are coming from usenet groups and ignores them, or ignores the site due to content. I tend to think its the former, since I started adding legitimate content to my blog besides just a set of links...

I believe I will have to link to it from other places in order to see if the spider will index you properly.
thanks for the advice, though...
Mauricio

Mysql woes on win2k3

I recemtly had to reinstall the os on one of my servers. Firstly imho, if you can avoid win2k3 sbs - do so. I have always founf it bulky and full of great licensing restrictions that have annoyed me. Anyhow, I kept on getting a great error message by the mysql 5 installer configuration manager about how it could not apply security settings. I tried all sorts of changes including running as administrator. I decided to risk installing xamp even though I needed to run iis on the system. Well what do you know, low and behold you can disable installing apache as a service. It also happened to do the trick... Mysql was installed with no password on root. But now I was able to get into mysql and get everything running again. I know, its really just a workaround, but it worked for me.

Hp pavilion dv1920us wireless issue

So the other day I got up and my wireless mysteriously did not work anymore. The rest of the latop seemed to work fine, but the blue light which is on the front of the computer to let me know wireless is on turnd orange. Now it is several days later, im supposed to have a box to send my laptop and an email confirmation with my info on how to return my laptop for servicing. I have neither of these. I am know going to contact hp again.

I contacted HP again and they say that there is no record of such a request. I had to go through the entire rigamaroll in order to get them to agree to send me another box.

Unfortunately for me, I had to leave for christmas vacation with family before I received the box. I will update as things develop...

My favorite places to eat in Portland, OR

Yesterday I ate at A Pizza Scholls, which is one of my favorite places to eat. I highly recommend the cesar salad and the margherita, I always go with a plain pizza whe I start out as ou judge the pizza in its basic form - if that doesn't hold up then it's not good enough. If we go back we end up ordering another flavor to try something new.

I also happen to love Ken's pizza.

Both are geared for a pizza connosieur. And I am fairly certain you won't be disappointed.

I sing a little song after each time I go and then even after I eat some of the left
overs.

I figured I would add a couple of my other favorite places to eat:

Nicolas Lebanese Food.

Yum yum! I think you should order a vegan mezza for two and add a side of saphron rice! Oh don't forget to try the lebanese cheese pizza. If you have room for the dessert the baklava is also scrumptious.

The Farm.

A little more expensive and formal than some of the other choices we go to, but always fresh and delicious choices made from the finest local organic ingredients. We usually go to the Farm for special occassions and I almost always order the Tofu Marsala. I cannot help it as its just so delicious I don't want to take chance ordering something I might not like as much. The fresh fish choices are usually very good as well.

Sushiland / Marinopolis
There are some good cuts at Sushiland, but the quality and service may vary on your visit and shift. We usually stick to some of the more "americanized" versions of the vegetarian sushi such as fried yam rolls, shrimp tempura rolls, spicy tuna rolls (one of my favorites), and we usually ask for some plain avocado rolls. The sushi plates go around a conveyor belt and the sushi plates vary from $1.00 to $3.00.

Mio Sushi

Two Words: SUSHI PIZZA!! A crazy concoction saved for those who are brave enough to venture out of the norm. Contrary to what you may imagine in your head, it does not contain cheese and is actually very unique and quite delicious.
